PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device, for obtaining further stable and satisfactory transfer performance with a simple structure. SOLUTION: In the image forming device 100, a transfer member 5 is composed of a substantially rectangular solid-shaped elastic member which surface-contacts with a belt body 7. In a moving direction of the belt body 7, an upstream-side end part B of a contact area between the transfer member 5 and the belt body 7 is located within a contact area A between an image carrier 1 and the belt body 7, and a downstream-side end part C of the contact area between the transfer member 5 and the belt body 7 is located out of the contact area A between the image carrier 1 and the belt body 7.
