An optical glass comprising the following components in terms of oxides (by mass): SiO2: 35-45%; B2O3: 12-20%; Li2O: 2-7%; ZnO: 0.1-10%; Al2O3: 2-15%; BaO: 10-40%; K2O: 0-5%; Na2O: 0-10%; and Gd2O3: 0-20%, provided that the following requirements should be satisfied: SiO2 + B2O3: 47-58% and Li2O + Na2O + K2O: 5-14%.
