The device (D) has a filtering unit (MF1) comprising an inlet to receive light rays issued from the sun and an outlet. The inlet is oriented toward front of a motor vehicle (V). The unit is arranged for passing light rays received at an angle lower than chosen angular value with respect to a longitudinal axis (X) of the vehicle, through the outlet. A sensor (CL1) is arranged for measuring intensity of the light passing through the outlet and for delivering a lighting signal of a headlight (PH) and/or a rear light (FA) when the intensity of the light is greater than a chosen threshold.
