<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a membrane electrode assembly capable of prolonging durability period of a fuel cell as much as possible without increasing usage amount of a metal catalyst while allowing elusion of the catalyst in power generation elapse, and a fuel cell with this. <P>SOLUTION: In the membrane electrode assembly 1 of the fuel cell consisting of an electrolyte membrane 10 and catalyst layers 11, 11, this 11 has a layered structure with a first catalyst layer 11a and a second catalyst layer 11b, the first catalyst layer 11a, the second catalyst layer 11b are arranged in this order from the electrolyte membrane 10 side, and both first and the second catalyst layers 11a, 11b include first regions 11a1, 11b1 containing metal catalyst, and second regions 11a2, 11b2 without containing the metal catalyst alternatively. Both catalyst layers 11a, 11b are laminated in a posture in which the second region 11b2 is positioned in the first region 11a1, and the first region 11b1 is positioned in the second region 11a2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
