A magnetic device which can be used in electronic devices is provided. The magnetic device comprises a magnetic junction and at least one smart thermal barrier thermally coupled to the magnetic junction. The magnetic junction comprises at least one reference film, at least one non-magnetic spacer film, and a free film. The non-magnetic space film (s) is between the reference film (s) and the free film. The free film can be switched between stable magnetic states when a write current flows through the magnetic junction. The smart thermal barrier has low heat conductivity in a range equal to or lower than a transition temperature range and has high heat conductivity in a range equal to or higher than the transition temperature range.
