Procedure for preparing a crystalline form of the disodium salt of 9-ethyl-6,9-dihydro-4,6-dioxo-10-propyl- 4H-pyrano[3,2-g]quinoline-2,8-dicarboxylic acid. Synthetic compound with interesting therapeutic properties, and in the treatment of reversible obstructive diseases of the airways, produced by suspending 9-ethyl-6,9-dihydro-4,6-dioxo-10-propyl-4H- pyrano[3,2-g]quinoline-2,8-dicarboxylic acid in an organic solvent, such as isopropanol, acetone, dimethoxyethane, ethanol, acetonitrile, etc., refluxing the solvent used, adding a sodium hydroxide solution, allowing to cool to ambient temperature, and isolating the desired product by the conventional methods. <IMAGE>
