The present invention relates to a bus node IC (1) comprising at least one static address selection terminal (3). The bus node IC (1) comprises: a detection circuit (4) which detects a state of a static address selection terminal (3); and a communication circuit (5) which is adapted to determine a node address identifier by taking the detected state into account. The detection circuit (4) is adapted to detect the state by determining an electrical property of a passive electronic component when connected to the static address selection terminal (3). The communication circuit (5) is adapted to receive/transmit data over a data bus (9) in accordance with a first communication protocol by using the node address identifier for identification of the IC, and to receive/transmit data over the data bus (9) in accordance with a second communication protocol by using a further node address identifier for identification of the IC. In this case, the communication circuit (5) is adapted to configure the further node address identifier by using data received via the first protocol. |
