Provided are a method for synthesizing a 3D background content with an application content and a device for performing the method. The device according to an embodiment can receive the application content from an external device connected to the device, and can synthesize the 3D background content with the application content. Also, the device can arrange the application content in a first region to display the application content in the first region of the display part of an external device, and can arrange the 3D background content in a second region to display the 3D background content on the second region of the display part of the external device. So, a 3D immersion effect can be provided to a user.
