The present heat exchanger (10) is built to be more efficient, to better resist the internal forces and pressures and to better withstand the thermal stress from the cyclic operation of the engine (12). The core (22) has a plurality of heat recipient passages (36) therein which have a uniform cross-sectional area throughout the entire length of the passage (36).
