摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To enable the system to meet the requirement of a buffer overflow rate even to a narrow band call by using a virtual band Ri and selecting the band so that a function alpha(N) and variables alpha, C, N, Ri satisfy a prescribed condition with respect to a natural number (i) (N is number of calls passing through an in-network transmission line and C is a transmission line capacity). CONSTITUTION:A buffer 11 is arranged to await the transmission of a packet to a transmission line 12. The band for calls 1-N is assigned as a virtual band Ri to the transmission line 12. The assignment is implemented by a band assign ment device 10. When a new call request takes place, the selection is made in a relation of 0<alpha(i+1)<=alpha(i)<1.0 depending on number of multiplexed calls and the band assignment device 10 discriminates whether or not the virtual band Ri of the call is assigned to the transmission line 12 so that the relation of total sum of virtual band Ri<=C.alpha(N) is satisfied. When the assignment is enabled, an enable signal and when disabled) a rejection signal is returned. Since the capacity C enabling the assignment is varied with number N of calls passing through the transmission line, the band is assigned with a high efficiency to a broad band call, and even when lots of narrow band calls are received, the assignment is implemented without deterioration in the quality.</p>
