[Also in Divisions B3 and B5] In a method of making sleeved containers, two halves t and b are deep drawn (see Division B5A) in moulds 2t1 and 2b1 carried by intermittently rotating conveyer members T171 and B171 respectively. The members are then indexed to bring the drawn halves into opposition and the moulds are forwarded into co-operation to weld the halves together. Finally the welded containers which are retained by moulds 2t1 are indexed to a position III in which they are inserted into sleeves h carried by a third intermittently rotating member H171, this member then being indexed to a take-off station. The sleeves are fed along a pair of channels H9 by, e.g. conveyer belts and are located in the desired arrangement within frames H10 by rotating pinions H5 and H7. The sleeves are subsequently pushed down on to mandrels carried by member H171 by sets of rams H12. During rotation of T171 to its welding position, each mould 2t1 is moved radially outward by a cam mechanism (see Figs. 5, 8, 9a and 9b, not shown) and, after said welding position has been reached are moved further outward into cooperation with moulds 2b1 by further operation of the above cam mechanism. After welding the moulds are retracted and during the next indexing movement the same two movements of the moulds 2t1 are effected to insert the welded containers into the sleeve. The container comprises an inner hollow body formed from two moulded halves t and b welded together around flanges f1 and f2, and on outer sleeve h the end of which has been rolled over to form a rim r. The container may be made from plastics, e.g. P.V.C. sheet or foil, or metal, e.g. aluminium sheet or foil.
