1,157,279. Stoppering; feeding stoppers. SEITZ-WERKE G.m.b.H. 23 Aug., 1966 [4 Sept., 1965], No. 37655/66. Headings B8S and B8T. A rotary table stoppering machine for putting stoppers or corks into the mouths of bottles &c. comprises a central support rod 15 about which rotates a column (16), Fig. 1 (not shown), having an upper, drum-like extension 17, Fig. 2, secured by clamps 38 at its top to the outer rotary wall 21 of a stopper &c. hopper, the rod 15 carrying a non-rotary hopper base 20, 24 and a non-rotary hopper lid 22. A tube 32 is a press fit on to a spigot 30 at the top of the rod 15, and receives at its top end a plug 33 secured to the hopper lid 22. Alternatively, the rod 15 may extend upwards to the hopper lid 22. A detachable cover 28 closes a hole 27 in the hopper lid 22, through which the hopper may be recharged with stoppers &c. The lid 22, the cover 28 and the base 20, 24 are all made of a plastics material. Vertical channels 25 around the base of the rotary hopper wall 21 feed corks down through shoots (13) to stopper holding and plunger actuating mechanism (12). The non-rotary base 20, 24 of the hopper is of frustoconical shape, and is formed with radiallydirected ridges and grooves, Fig. 3 (not shown). As the hopper wall 21 rotates relatively to the base 20, 24, the stoppers &c. are churned so that they slide down the grooves in the base into the shoots (13), and then to the stoppering mechanism (12). |
