PURPOSE:To maintain triboelectrifiability stable in negative polarity in the triboelectrification of the toner to a charge donor, such as a developing sleeve and a blade, by incorporating at least one of specified metal-containing compounds as a negative charge controller. CONSTITUTION:The metal-containing compound to be used as the negative charge controller is at least one of the compounds represented by formula I in which two of R1 - R4 is a group represented by formula II and the other are each H, 1 - 18C alkyl or alkoxy; and M is Ca, Ba, Zn, or Mg. The charge controller is contained in the toner usually in an amount of 0.1 - 20 weight % of a binder resin, preferably, 0.2 - 10 weight %, thus permitting the obtained toner to be stable in triboelectrification to the charge doner, such as the sleeve and the blade, and sharp and uniform in the charge distribution, and to be controlled to the charge quantity adapted to the developing method to be used. |
