In a circulating ball-type screw-and-nut steering gear mechanism, a ball return passage is formed by a tube 1 having a straight centre portion 2 and end portions 3 which terminate in scoops 5 projecting into the ball path. The tube 1 is formed in two halves which may or may not be welded together and is located in a groove 7 in a nut 6 by a strap 12. In a modification, a tube 1 is made of a single pressing provided with scoop portions 19 and retaining flanges 20. |
