938,536. Disc brakes. GENERAL AUTOMATED MACHINERY CORPORATION. July 12, 1962 [April 17, 1962], No. 26866/62. Class 103 (1). [Also in Group XXIV] A clutch/brake unit comprises a housing 1 whose end faces are formed with circular recesses 2, 4 for the reception of discs 13, 16 connected by an axial sleeve 15 and having associated annular fluid-pressure actuator pistons 9, 19. The disc 16 is mounted between a clutch friction element 33 carried by a further disc 32 secured to the driving shaft 25 and a brake friction element 35 secured to the housing 1. To engage the clutch pressure fluid is admitted through a passage 22 to move piston 19 to the left and thus engage discs 16, 32 to drive a pulley 36 secured to disc 13. For braking, fluid is admitted through a second passage 6, the piston 9 moving both discs 13, 16 to the right until disc 16 engages the brake friction element 35. |
