PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of optical coupling between optical waveguides and to realize the high-efficiency coupling of an optical function element between the optical waveguides by making ultraviolet rays from exposed core opening parts after coating the opening parts with a photosensitive film, and thus forming a lens. CONSTITUTION:A 1st groove 3 is formed in part of an optical waveguide 2 and a 2nd groove 4 which is narrower is formed in the bottom part of the 1st groove 3; and the photosensitive film 5 is formed covering the core opening parts 20 which are exposed in both flanks of the 1st groove 3. Then the ultraviolet rays are made incident from one opening part 22 of the optical waveguide 2 and the photosensitive film 5 covering the two opening parts 20 is irradiated with the ultraviolet rays to form the lens 6. In concrete, the optical element has at least one optical function element 10 arranged between two lenses 6 of the optical waveguide lens and one end part of the optical function element 10 is fitted and fixed in the 2nd groove 4. Consequently, even when the groove 3 is wide, a light beam which is diverged in the groove space can be converged and light can be coupled with high efficiency. |
