1,228,488. Pivot assembly for windows. ETABS. L. DEVILLEZ & CAMION S.A. 30 Sept., 1968 [18 Oct., 1967; 9 Jan., 1968], No. 46311/68. Heading E2F. In a pivot for a pivoting window, comprising a pivot block and two pins located in the block about which pins the pivoting of the window is effected in succession, first about the first pin to pivot it through a certain angle (up to 90‹), and then about the second pin until the window has pivoted through 180‹, a sliding bolt, concealed inside the block, prevents pivoting about the second pin while pivoting is effected about the first pin, and prevents pivoting about the first pin while pivoting is effected about the second pin. The pivot comprises two pivot pins 2, 7, each having a notch in their curved face, the pin 2 being secured to a plate 1 which is fixed to the window frame, and the pin 7 being releasably secured to a plate 5 which is fixed to the window. The pins are inserted in bores 3, 8, in a pivot block or intermediate piece 4 which between the bores has a cavity in which the bolt slides. In the first embodiment (see Fig. 1) the sliding bolt is composed of two lock bolts 10, 11 held apart by a spring 12. Initially the lock bolt 11 engages the notch 13 of pivot pin 7; and the plate 5 and intermediate piece 4 rotate about pivot pin 2 (1st axis of pivoting) the lock bolt 10 sliding over the face of the latter until it engages its notch 13 thus securing the intermediate piece 4 to the plate 1 and enabling rotation about the pin 7 (2nd axis of pivoting). Screws 15 retard each section of the pivoting. In the second embodiment (see Fig. 3) the bolt 22 has symmetrical double bevels 23 which engage one or other of the notches 21. The intermediate piece 4 is in two parts 18, 19 joined by a screw 20 in such a way as to retard one stage of the pivoting more than the other. |
