A cam having an adjustable profile comprises a supporting plate 2, with a hub 1 keyed to a pin 3, and a plurality of cam sectors 8 having apertures 6, 7, Fig. 2, which engage posts 4, 5 projecting from the plate 2. The sectors 8 are locked in position by rubber rings 9, associated with the posts 5, which expand radially when compressed by a locking disc 14 which is secured in position by a nut 15. The disc 14 acts on a washer 12 integral with a pin 13 located within each post 5 and a spring 11 is disposed between the washer 12 and a washer 10 at the top of the rings 9. The plate 2 has a toothed periphery 2<SP>1</SP>. In a modification, the cam comprises sectors of 120 degree extent. The cams are arranged in stacks so that several cam profiles are available for actuating a camfollower which can be displaced from one cam to another. |
