1,208,188. Making coating doctors. UDDEHOLMS A.B. 6 Nov., 1968 [7 Nov., 1967], No. 62640/68. Heading B3A. [Also in Division D2] In a method of making a coating doctor, a chamfered edge 8 is finished by planing longitudinally. A steel band is wound into a roll and a side face of the roll is ground in such a way that the strip edge 1 is ground longitudinally. The strip is then unwound and drawn past a planing tool, which forms the edge 8. Alternatively, the face of the roll may be ground straight across or the grinding step may be eliminated. In either case the edge 7 is longitudinally planed. The doctor may be made from carbon steel, stainless steel or metals other than steel. |
