METHOD FOR MAKING TEXTILE FLAME-PROOF AND CREASE-RESISTING

A cellulosic fabric is treated by subjecting it, in either sequence to the process of (a) treating it with tetrakis (hydroxymethyl)phosphonium cpd (THP) or its condensate followed by curing to a polymer, and (b) impregnating it with a non self-condensing methylolamide having at least two methylol gps which may opt have been alkylated and then reacting the fabric and methylolamide under aq acid conditions. Pref. (a) is effected before (b).
