摘要 1,055,382. Work-transfer. STANDARD TOOL & MANUFACTURING CO. March 2, 1964 [March 19. 1963], No. 8785/64. Headings B3B and B3C. A drilling, tapping, reaming and drilling machine comprises means 63, Fig. 1 (not shown), for advancing a series of work-carrying pallets 48 to a series of machining stations. The machine base is made of a number of standard welded sections having partitions 16, Fig. 2 (not shown), levelling screws 14, strengthening rails 18, rails 19, dowelled bridge members 21, coolant troughs 24, 52 and spouts 25 leading into a tank 26. The sections are joined by dowels and screws 28, 29, Fig. 1, to standard base support plates 27 having dowelled and screwed means for locating work-performing devices thereon. The bridge members 21 carry pallet locating and clamping mechanisms, the mechanisms being inter-connected by intermediate rails 34. In its passage to a locating mechanism, a pallet is wiped each side by an element 35 washed by coolant. Elevators 39, 41, respectively lower and raise pallets to and from a lower return conveyer, a new workpiece being positioned on a pallet at station 38 before it enters the elevator 39. A workpiece 46, Fig. 8 (not shown), is clamped by a handle 62 and an arm 59 to a fixture 47 dowelled to a pallet 48 to enable it to be drilled from various angles. The pallets are advanced by pins 81, Figs. 13 and 14 (not shown), on a bar 63, which is reciprocated by fluid-pressure means 64, Fig. 1, acting through a short rack engaging two pinions in succession. To disengage the pins on a return stroke of the bar 63, the bar is rotated by a fluid-pressure-operated rack-andpinion device mounted on a plate 27. A pallet is clamped in position by fluid-pressure means 108, Fig. 13, which operate wedge bars 111, to force the pallet against shoulders 117, Fig. 14, and buttons 120. Air passages 123, 124 are closed when a workpiece has been properly positioned. When all the workpieces are so positioned, the various operations such as the rotating and feeding of tools are initiated. Stations may be provided for rotating a pallet in either direction through 90 degrees. At these stations, the pallet is raised hydraulically and is then rotated by a pin-and-slide mechanism actuated by an elongated pin on the bar 63 as it is retracted. A pallet to be lowered is first supported on fingers projecting from linked slides 185, 186 (Fig. 23, not shown), held by a pin 213. When the elevator carriage engages the pallet, the pin is released and springs withdraw the slides. The carriage of the elevator 39 is lowered by a screw 196, Fig. 23, rotated by a fluid-pressure motor 197. When a pallet has been deposited on a transfer belt 224, the empty elevator carriage is raised after a time delay has operated. lf the elevator carriage descends with the worklocking handle 62 in an unlocked position, a switch 227 is operated to stop the elevator. The transfer belt runs round two pulleys, one of which is adjustable by screws 262 to tension the belt, and is driven by a variable-speed motor. Pumps 295 and 296 respectively provide hydraulic and pneumatic pressure.
