1,165,827. Fluidized bed reactor. ESSO RESEARCH & ENG. CO. 4 Dec., 1967, No. 55077/67. Heading B1F. [Also in Divisions Cl and C7] A particulate solid is reacted with a gas in a series of fluidized bed reactors 100 to 400 the solid being entrained by the gas, which moves at 30 to 150 feet per second, preferably 60 to 120 feet per second, to form a dilute gas-solids phase 12, the solids are fed into a fluidized gas-solids phase 21 from which the solid can settle at 20 and be recycled to the dilute gas-solids phase 12 by means of diplegs 14, 15. The fluidised bed has a density of from 5 to 50 lb/cu. ft. at the bottom to 50 to 110 lb/cu. ft. at the top. The example given is of iron ore which may be reduced to iron by means of CO, He or a mixture thereof in a series of reactors.
|
