In a motor-vehicle limited-slip bevel-type differential gear, wherein differential rotation of the usual half-shafts 20, 21 is resisted by a cone friction clutch 42 arranged between a sidewheel 32 and the differential casing half 10a and loaded by springs 51 reinforced by the bevel tooth reaction separating force, the clutch cone surfaces 29, 43 are lubricated from a reservoir channel 25, in the easing half 10a, filled by an oil baffle or deflector rib 61 cast integrally in the casing half 10b and co-operating with oildeflecting tabs 54 on the clutch spring retainer to collect oil fed into the casing from an outer housing (not shown) via a port 65, the port 65 having a lip 66 and being located in the casing at the opposite side to the baffle 61 to additionally form a fluid reservoir -within the casing 10, adjacent the port 65, for lubrication of the clutch surfaces in the vicinity-of the port 65. |
