<p>Bonding an annealed metal external sheath to a foamed plastic insulation layer surrounding a cable core which may comprise one or more conductors, e.g. a video cable, consisting of the successive steps of introducing the pre-formed core with its foamed plastic insulation into a metallic sleeve of greater diameter, which can be produced by any suitable known technique, coating the sleeve with a lubricant passing it through a die or rolls where its diameter is reduced and it compresses the foamed layers then through a cleaning bath to remove lubricant, and thereafter passing the assembly in sequence through a first pair of threaded draw conveyors.</p> |
