1280342 Revaporizing liquefied gas L'AIR LIQUIDE SOC ANON POUR L'ETUDE ET L'EXPLOITATION DES PROCEDES GEORGES CLAUDE 2 July 1969 [3 July 1968 17 Sept 1968] 33398/69 Heading F4P Prior to pressurizing L.N.G. in a line 127, Fig. 2, from an intermediate pressure to a high pressure by means of a pump 129 and revaporizing the L.N.G. in a heat exchanger 131 discharging at ambient temperature into a high pressure service line 133, a liquefied volatile gas, e.g. nitrogen and/or methane is added to the L.N.G. in line 127 at said intermediate pressure. The volatile gas or gas mixture in the gas phase is drawn by a compressor 121 from methane and nitrogen lines 120, 119 and is forced through a heat exchanger 104 where it is liquefied and passed through a line 125 to the L.N.G. line 127. The exchanger 104 is cooled by a portion of the high pressure liquid mixture discharged by pump 129 and the resulting gas mixture at ambient temperature is added to that in line 133. In a modification feed L.N.G. in a line 3, Fig. 1, at an intermediate pressure, e.g. 40 atmos. is warmed to its boiling point in heat exchanger 4, 6, 10 and a reflux condenser 8 and a methane-rich gas is separated at 13, withdrawn at 42, reliquefied at 6 and used as the main liquid feed to which is added at 27 the volatile gas or gas mixture in the liquid phase prior to pressurization at 29 to a high pressure, e.g. 70 atmos. Condensate withdrawn from separator 13 is expanded at 15 into a separation column 16 from which gaseous methane and ethane are withdrawn at 17 and added to nitrogen and/or methane discharged by a compressor 21. The volatile gas mixture is then liquefied at 4 and pressurized by a pump 26 which delivers into line 27. Liquid bottoms from column 16 are separated in a column 37 into C 3 and C 4 hydrocarbons. |
