PURPOSE:To accurately check image quality by forming a reference pattern for inspection image quality on a transfer paper for inspection and deciding the abnormality of an image from a developed image. CONSTITUTION:In this device, the sheets where the image is formed are counted by a sheet number counter, and when the specified number of sheets (exam ple:1000 sheets) is attained, a mode is automatically switched from an ordinary image forming mode to an image checking mode and the reference pattern 37 is transferred to the transfer paper 23 supplied from a cassette 22 for inspecting the image quality. Then, an image quality checking sensor 16 detects the black solid of the black part 38, the sharpness of the thin line part 39 and the surface staining of the plain part 40 of a pattern 37 fixed on the transfer paper 23 and outputs the detected result to a control means. The control means compares the detection output with each reference value, and displays abnormal ity or allows a device in a copying impossible state when the abnormality of the image is decided. |
