Any displacement of guards 10 for rotary cylinders 1, 2 of a printing press actuates a switch 16 to stop the press. Two tubular guards 10 are located close to respective ones of the cylinders 1, 2 at least a hand's breadth from the line 3 of contact between the cylinders, the guards being rotatably mounted at their ends in slots 8 in the arms of two forked levers (6, 7), (Fig. 2, not shown), secured on a pivot shaft 4 level with and parallel to the contact line 3. Springs (11) urge the guards 10 away from the shaft 4. A cam 13 on one end of the shaft 4 engages the plunger 15 of the switch 16. A block 17 pivoted to the cam 13 slidably engages a rod 18 and is centred by springs 19, 20 to urge the guards to their positions in which the switch 16 is not actuated. |
