发明名称 LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE
摘要 PURPOSE:To allow displaying with high quality for a wide range of visual angles by specifying the value of the product of the difference between the max. main refractive index and min. main refractive index of a visual angle compensating means and the optical path length of the visual angle compensating means. CONSTITUTION:A liquid crystal display element and a pair of polarizing members are provided in order to make liquid crystal displaying. The visual angle compensating means optically having double refractiveness is inserted between the liquid crystal display element and the polarizing member on at least one side in the lamination direction thereof. The direction of the max. main refractive index of this visual angle compensating means is so set as to be nearly paralleled with substantially the normal direction of the liquid crystal display element. The value of the product of the difference between the max. main refractive index and the min. main refractive index and the optical path length of the visual angle compensating means is set in a range from 200nm to 900nm. The display grade is greatly improved in this way.
