PURPOSE:To obtain the subject strengthening agent useful for imparting and strengthening improved mild taste and flavor having characteristic desirable taste and flavor as a base note by anaerobically treating tea leaves, extracting the leaves with water and ethanol and using the extract as an active component. CONSTITUTION:Tea leaves treated by anaerobic treatment are extracted with water and/or ethanol and the obtained tea extract is used as an active component of the objective agent for food and drink (excluding tea drinks).
