1,139,609. Soldering. CORNING GLASS WORKS. 31 Oct., 1966 [5 Nov., 1965], No. 48731/66. Heading B3R. [Also in Divisions H1 and H2] Channel-sectioned terminal 26 of lead wire 24 is brought over the end of capacitor 10 so that its back inside surface, coated with fusible bonding medium 28 is in contact with the metallized end face 20 of the capacitor, and the terminal is heated by current across electrodes 30, 32 to melt the bonding medium and unite the terminal with the end face of the capacitor. During the joining, pressure is applied in the direction of arrows 34, 35. The bonding medium 28, which may also cover the other inside surfaces of the terminal, may be a solder or conductive frit, e.g. a slurry of silver particles and a glass binder in an organic vehicle. Metal coating 20 may be silver, gold, platinum, silverrhodium, or palladium. |
