A photographic light-sensitive silver halide material contains in the support or a subbing layer an antraquinone dye of the formula:- wherein R, is H or alkyl, R2 is alkyl, cyclohexyl or alkoxyalkyl, R3 is -OH, -NH2 or -NHR where R is alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, phenyl, alkylphenyl, alkoxyphenyl or halophenyl, the total number of carbon atoms in the aliphatic portions of R1, R2 and R3 being less than 12. The dyes are antihalation dyes for light in the red and infrared regions and protect against such light entering from the edge of the film. The supports may be of cellulose triacetate and may carry an emulsion on both sides for X-ray photography. |
