Polymeric substance reinforced by fillers

A reinforcing filler is introduced into a "base" (first) polymer mass by mixing a filler with a second polymer mass so as to disperse it and then melt-compounding the dispersion with the "base" mass. The polymer first admixed with the filler is dissimilar from the polymer ("the base"). The filler used is initially not reinforcing but is modified before being dispersed in the "second" polymer by coating it with an organic compound having at least one ethylenic bond or with an organic compound which has surface affinity towards the filler particles.
