Soil fertiliser and improver is prepared from finely divided plant or animal materials by partially drying with CaO and treatment with hot combustion gases. Waste such as animal dung, slaughter refuse, sewage, peat or seaweed is converted to a neutral or slightly alkaline product which is a valuable soil aid. |
