Compression mould for records

Pressing mould for gramophone records has an upper and lower part which have heating and cooling channels for passing liquid and gaseous media. The mould parts with channels are made from material with low specific heat and with high thermal conductivity. The surface layer with the record profile is made from a material of high strength, e.g. nickel and this is joined to mould backing by electrolytic deposition. The temperature of the mould is changed rapidly with low energy expenditure. The profiled surface is wear resistant. The heat exchanger part of the mould is made of copper or unalloyed steel. The required wear resistance of the profiled surface is achieved by hard nickel deposit.
