[Also in Divisions B5 and C7] Shortly before being formed into an article, e.g. a food container, resin-coated agehardened aluminium alloy sheet containing 2-8% Zn and 0.3-5% Mg is subjected to a recovery treatment in the range 180‹C. to the temperature of initial decomposition of the resin for a period no exceeding five minutes. Coating of the alloy sheet with resin may be combined with the recovery treatment by applying the resin direct from a melt, while the sheet is still hot from the treatment. After forming the article may be heated to fuse the coating. The resin may be a polyolefine, e.g. polyethylene or polyisobutylene.</p> |
