A seat slide assembly for a vehicle comprises an elongated track 12 secured to the floor of the vehicle, an elongated slide 13 having an upper horizontal web 27 disposed above the track and a latch 26 mounted on the slide and adapted to be received in aperture 56 in a pair of downwardly extending sides 31 of the slide and in one of a series of apertures 25 in the vertical central web 14 of the track. The latch is operated through rack teeth 47 and a gear segment 49 by a lever 48 pivoted to the slide 13; a spring 51 urges the latch into the aperture. The latch of a second slide assembly on the same seat is operated by a link 53 extending from the lever 48. An anti friction set comprising a roller 34 and a ball 35 in tandem in a metal cage is disposed between the slide and the track at the front and also at the rear. Resilient bowed inserts (38) are also disposed between the track and the slide to prevent rattling. In a modification, (Figs. 6, 7) the cage for the ball and roller is formed of a resilient plastic material and serves the same function as the inserts (38). In another modification Figs. 8, 9 the latch (203) is pivoted to the top of the slide (202) and has a pair of fingers (214,, 215) for engagement with the apertures of the track. |
