1321047 Lysine ALLIED CHEMICAL CORP 31 July 1970 [25 Aug 1969] 37212/70 Heading C2C A process for preparing a lysine alkyl ester or an acid addition salt thereof comprises nitrosating 2-nitrocyclohexanone to give 2-nitro-6- oximinocyclohexanone and ring opening the 2- nitro-6-oximinocyclohexanone in the presence of a strong base and an alcohol to give the 2- oximino - 6 - nitro - hexanoic acid alkyl ester derived from the alcohol and then catalytically hydrogenating the ester. The invention also comprises 2-nitro-6-oxinuno-cyclohexanone and an alkyl 2-oximino-6-nitro-hexanoate. Examples are furnished.
