1,162,946. Compressors; balancing. DANFOSS S.A. March 25, 1968 [March 30, 1967], No.14161/68, Headings F1M and F1N. In a motor compressor comprising a compression piston 5 reciprocated in a cylinder 4 by a vertical crank-shaft 1 having upper and lower journals 18, 15 running in bearings 10, 9 provided in a support member 6, the upper bearing journal 18 has a flange 19 which forms a thrust bearing with a bearing ring 11 on the end of the upper bearing 10. As shown, the upper bearing 10 is large enough to allow the crank portion 14 of the crank-shaft to pass therethrough during assembly of the shaft to the bearings 9, 10. Alternatively the upper bearing journal 18 may be smaller in which case the upper bearing 10 is provided with an arcuate cut-out for passage of the crank portion 14. To improve the balance, a recess 20 is provided in the upper journal 18 whereby the journal functions as a counterweight to the crank portion 14. |
