1298402 Making block bottom bags GARTEMAN & HOLLMANN GmbH 10 July 1970 [29 July 1969] 33665/70 Heading B5D [Also in Division B8] A block bottomed bag is made by opening the bottom of the bag as shown, pressing the bottom in this position, grooving the bottom to form two fold lines 4, folding over the side flaps 5 so formed and pressing them in this position, unfolding the side flaps 5, applying adhesive to the shaded areas 13 and refolding the flaps 5. The initial folding over of the flaps 5 is achieved by means of folding fingers (6) co-operating with a format sheet (7) whose width is equal to the spacing of the fold lines 4. The flaps 5 are unfolded by means of spreading fingers (9) and are refolded, after application of adhesive, by folding fingers (14) co-operating with a narrow format sheet (15) whose width is less than the spacing of the fold lines 4. The format sheet (15) may be convex, the bag being supported on a convex support (16) during the refolding operation. |
