Device comprises a hollow body surrounding a cylindrical or prismatic space provided with the means for feeding in foodstuffs, and in which a piston is driven to and fro, as a result of which the foodstuffs are alternately admitted and forced against dividing devices and outlet means which are arranged in longitudinal direction at one of the outlet ends of these spaces. - In the case of potatoes being processed these fill approx. a quarter of the volume of the space, whereby they can come from below upwards along the concave surface when the piston withdraws, as a result of which the potatoes, in their upward movement, can, to a certain extent, scrape off the mash deposited on the concave wall during a prior cycle.
