The tower comprises several tiered column compartments with lateral steam or gas inlet, pipes which during operation, are covered by the liquid collected in the compartments. Above the liquid level are lateral vapour or gas outlet pipes. The compartment base plates have overflow pipes which reach into the liquid of the compartment below. The tower is closed by a top cover which has inlet nozzles, nozzles for a return - flow cooler, thermometer pH- meter etc.
