1322196 Golf balls ABBOTT LABORATORIES 8 Dec 1970 [29 Dec 1969] 58314/70 Heading A6D [Also in Division C3] Unitary golf balls are prepared by vulcanizing a mixture consisting essentially of 60-90 parts by weight of a diolefin elastomer having at least 95% cis-configuration, 10-40 parts by weight of a styrene-butadiene copolymer elastomer containing a major proportion of butadiene and 20-50 parts by weight of a methacrylate ester of a polyol 0.5-10 parts by weight of a peroxide initiator and 30-60 parts by weight of non-black reinforcing and filler materials the diolefin elastomer and copolymer elastomer together constituting 100 parts by weight, optionally up to 10 parts by weight of antioxidants accelerators and/or whitening agents. Preferably trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate is employed with dicumyl peroxide as initiator, hydrated silica and titanium dioxide as filler and whitening agent. |
