Self aligning mounting for the upper clamping rod fitted with a centre and guided in a cylindrical channel in the roll head of a spline rolling machine to ensure correct alignment of the workpiece during the working cycle. The drive for the workpiece is connected with the workpiece via a connecting rod having ball and socket connection at both the top and bottom end.
