PURPOSE:To easily extend a relaying distance between optical repeaters by arranging a light directly amplifying fiber on the way of an optical fiber connecting both optical repeaters and outputting exciting light for exciting the light directly amplifying fiber from the optical repeaters. CONSTITUTION:The 1st and 2nd optical repeaters 33, 34 are arranged between terminal stations 31, 32 and optical repeaters 33-1, 33-2 are connected by optical fibers 37 to 39 through the 1st and 2nd light directly amplifying fibers 34, 36. Since an optical signal is amplified by the 1st and 2nd fibers 34, 36 on the way of transmission, the relaying distance between the repeaters 33-1, 33-2 can be extended to a distance L1 + L2 + L3. Thus, the optical relaying system capable of easily extending the relaying distance can be obtained. |
