1300659 Wrapping machine INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CO 16 June 1970 [25 June 1969] 29013/70 Addition to 1299778 Heading B8F A machine for wrapping flat bodies of oval cross-section, e.g. capacitors, comprises a series of pocket wheels 5, 6, 7, Fig. 1, coupled together to rotate in the manner shown; the pockets of the first wheel 5 receiving bodies to be wrapped from 2, and adhesive tape 13 from roll 1 being brought into contact with the bodies and the wheel, and cut to suitable length by a hot-wire cutter 3 which is coupled to the wheel 5 to rotate with it for the period that it cuts the tape. Stationary devices 8, 9 lift the bodies from the pockets of one wheel to those of the next, and a similar device 10 finally discharges them to a storage container. Operation A, Fig. 2, is performed when the body is transferred to the second wheel and stationary block 11 performs operation B by wrapping the end of the tape around the remaining free side of the body as it leaves this wheel. The wrapping is completed with the ends of the tape overlapping when the bodies are put in the pockets of the final wheel. The whole assembly of pocket wheels on baseplate 12 may be replaced to wrap bodies of a different size. |
