[Also in Division C7] A combined wire drawing, annealing and spooling apparatus includes a wire drawing machine 1 having drawing wheels 6 driven by a motor 7, an annealer 2 having contact wheels 8, 9 and 10 connected to a source of electric current (not shown) and adapted to engage wire passing through the connecter so as to heat the wire to annealing temperature, a capstan 14 in driving engagement with the contact wheels, a motor 12 driving the capstan and contact wheels, and a spooling machine 3 having a reel 18 driven by a motor 19, control means 13 for the motor 12 so that during starting of the apparatus the acceleration of the feeding speed of the capstan does not exceed the winding-on speed of the reel 18, the arrangement being such that during starting of the apparatus the wire slips on the drawing wheels 6 until the feeding speed of the capstan is equal to the feeding speed of the drawing wheels. |
