Sealing electrodes leads used in sodium - chloride electrolysis

The electrode is used in fused electrolyte cells with heat-resistant filler in the cell wall aperture (1) for the current-carrying lead (2). The sealing device comprises a hollow funnelled member (3) around (1) which encases (2) and has a heat-resistant fibrous material layer between its inner diameter and (2). Specifically, the heat-resistant material is squeezed and supported by ceramic plates. The electrode is used in apparatus producing sodium and chlorine by electrolysis of sodium chloride from molten chloride electrolytes.
