In a method of automatic analysis of a flowing stream of liquid samples the samples are segmented with inert carrier liquid and transported through a conduit, the carrier liquid and the material of the inner surface of the conduit being such that the carrier liquid wets the surface better than the samples: Thus aqueous samples segmented with a silicone liquid and preferably also with air are transported through a tube of fluorinated hydrocarbon. Where the apparatus includes a dialyser (62A, 62B) as in analysis of glucose by the neocupreine method (Fig. 3 not shown) the inner surface of that part of the apparatus is such that the samples wet the surface better than the carrier liquid, as in Fig. 2 (not shown). |
