1300838 Thin layer chromatography TLC CORP 21 Aug 1970 [5 Sept 1969] 40487/70 Heading B1X A disposable pre-packaged thin layer chromatography unit 11 comprises chambers A 1 , B 1 separated by barrier C 2 , chamber A 1 containing a charge of eluent solvent gelled with a suitaible agent. To perform a test, the sample is applied to the neck portion C 3 of chromatographic sheet 19. Cover sheet F is removed from unit 11, and backed sheet 19 is applied face down to unit 11 so that adhesive backing E is sealed to rim D1 of unit 11 and the lower portion of sheet 19 is in contact with gelled eluent S 1 . If desired, a dipstick comprising a longitudinal adsorbent strip (N) may be dipped into the test sample, the stick sliced laterally, and a slice(s) applied by folding or securing to the neck portion of sheet 19 (see Figs. 5-7, not shown). The eluent gel may contain a material which can be colour developed after the run by heating the entire unit. As gelling agents for standard agents, fumed silica or fumed titania may be used. |
