1,260,899. Lifebelts. L. ROSSETTI. 10 Sept., 1969 [24 Sept., 1968], No. 44759/69. Heading B7U. A lifebelt contains a compressed gas bottle 1 having a valve responsive to water pressure. Bottle 1 is positioned in flexible tube 26 and carries a pivotal arm 13 with a disc 16 covering a recess in the wall of the bottle. A predetermined increase in ambient pressure depresses disc 16 and pivots arm 13 to lift pin 8 against bias of spring 18, thus allowing disc 7 to move to abutment 25 under the action of spring 6. The valve 4 is then displaceable by the pressure in the bottle and air passes via ducts 3, 20, 21, 21<SP>1</SP> to inflate tube 26. To recharge the bottle, plug 24 is removed, disc 7 returned manually and the bottle filled via valve 22. |
